The Solicitor And Her Staff
1. Kenny Solicitors
Our Principal is VICTORIA KENNY, conveyancer. She is a solicitor who qualified in 1984. In her early years she specialised in wills and probate but then moved into residential conveyancing. She started her own practice in 1989, which she built up to be one of the largest on the South Coast. She has since retired from running that practice and has decided to concentrate on the part of law that she really enjoys which is residential conveyancing and wills.
SUSANNE SPURLING, conveyancer is also a solicitor who qualified in 2002. She has specialised in residential conveyancing throughout her career and has also spent several years practicing commercial property. She has however also decided to concentrate on residential conveyancing.
We understand what a stressful experience moving home can be and whether you are a seasoned “mover” or a novice we and our staff are committed to providing you with the best possible service. We encourage you to telephone whenever you feel that you need advice or just reassurance and we promise that you will never be made to feel as though you are wasting anyone’s time!
In the following pages we have tried to give you some information that we think will assist you during your transaction but everybody is an individual as are their problems. It is, therefore, impossible to cover every eventuality so please do not hesitate to telephone or email whenever you need advice or simply want to talk things over.
2. Contacting us
Telephone Calls:
As we are only a small practice, the telephone will normally be answered by Victoria at the Chichester branch (or Louise Kenny or Lou Bagnall if she is on the telephone or out of the office) and by Susanne at the Arundel branch. On rare occasions or out of hours you may be answered by a voicemail. By all means leave a message and we will call you back as soon as we can.
Whilst we try to deal with all calls efficiently, inevitably system failure or human error could mean that your call is lost in the system or your message not passed on. If this should happen obviously we apologise and would ask you please not to hesitate to call in again should your message not be returned within a reasonable period of time (or indeed, if you are about to go out).
Please remember that if you leave a mobile number it may not always be possible for us to get through to you. We suggest that, if you do not hear back within say 2 hours, you call again.
E Mails:
E mails are our preferred means of communication for speed and economy although we would not wish you to feel excluded just because you are not a regular e mail user or do not have a computer. We are still happy to use the post or indeed work more on the telephone. Victoria, Susanne and Victoria’s assistant all have direct e mail addresses that come through instantly on to the computers on their desks. You are welcome to e mail at any time. Messages sent after hours will be picked up first thing in the morning. Please remember that the system is not infallible so, if you do not receive the response that you are expecting then please do check that your e mail has been received. We will always acknowledge your e mail with a quick message even if a fuller reply has to wait for later.
Short replies will usually come to you directly from Victoria and Susanne but longer replies will be more likely to be sent via their secretaries or assistants. This does not mean that the reply has been written by the secretary, simply that she has typed it!
If you give us an email address, we will assume that you are happy for us to use it. Please do let us know if you have any restraints on its use or if you are unable to print out easily, particularly in colour!
Text Messages:
Generally we do not use this means of communication however, on occasions, it may be possible to arrange for a text message to be sent to you if the need arises.
3. The solicitors and their staff
We do spend a lot of the time on the telephone giving advice and chasing up other solicitors so it may be, therefore, that you are not able to speak to us immediately when you telephone in. Please do leave a message and we will always give you a call back.
Alternatively, in the Chichester branch, Victoria’s assistant has a fund of useful information, which she will be happy to share with you. If she does not know the answer, she can always find out and telephone you back within a short period of time.
If there should be something that you are not happy about we would encourage you to be honest with us. We would far rather know about a potential problem whilst it is still capable of being resolved rather than try to sort it out afterwards!
Our basic working hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm and we normally slip out to lunch at some stage at around 1:00 pm although this may vary depending on the demands of the day. The office is, however, covered during this time should you need any urgent assistance. Before and after this time by all means do try to call. If we are still in the office then we will answer, particularly at busy times.
We would like to feel that you would be able to recommend us to family and friends and we welcome any feedback even if it is not positive. We can only make things better if we know where we might be going wrong. If you feel that there is any area in which we could improve or anything that we could have done to make things easier for you then we would appreciate hearing about it!
